Autumn Jubilee in the Garden from From My Carolina Home

Cool October nights are bringing the garden season to a close. While I still have some tomatoes on the vine, and more still green, they are mostly done. I harvested these, and I’ll pull up the plants when the first frost occurs.

There is still one squash left on the vine, and it finally appears to be ripening into a golden-tan color.

We are finally seeing a bit of color on some trees.

Because the black cherry tomatoes were unusual and flavorful, I saved some of those seeds for next year. See my method on my previous post Saving ...

Autumn Jubilee Mason Jar Wraps from From My Carolina Home

Our first embroidery project of the event is today, but you can still sew along if you do not have an embroidery machine. Fussy cut motifs or hand embroidered designs will work just as well. This project is made to fit a large 3-cup (or 24 oz), wide mouth Mason Jar.

Tiramisu from Sew Preeti Quilts

 INGREDIENTS

  • 8 Small Mason Jars
  • 16 Ladyfingers (Biscotti Saviordi) (We need 2 per jar)
  • 1 1/4 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup sweetened condensed milk
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla
  • 2 tsp instant coffee dissolved in 1 cup water (or use 1 cup of strong espresso)
  • Cocoa Powder for dusting (optional)


PREPARATION

1. Cut each ladyfinger in half and set aside.

2. Place the coffee liquid in a shallow bowl and set aside.

3. Pour the heavy cream in a large mixing bowl, add the vanilla extract and beat till stiff peaks form.

Having Fun with Mason Jars from From My Carolina Home

Going through my kitchen, it is surprising to see how many Mason jars I have.  When I saw an article in an older magazine on collecting and dating jars, I had to dig mine out just to see what might be there.  As I have said before, I was the one in school getting gleeful when research papers were assigned while everyone else was groaning.  I just love looking things up and learning.  So, settle in for a lesson on Mason jars, and maybe you’ll find a treasure in your cabinet.
